A Collin College English teacher has been appointed to a national committee focusing on learning and teaching the English language on the local, state and national levels.They are famed for their shapely hips, tidy ponytails and colourful sun visors, but the growing number of foreign golfers on America's women's tour will soon have to prove they possess brains as well as beauty – by learning to speak English.About one in 20 Americans, or 11 million adults, have such limited English skills they can't read a newspaper, understand the directions for their medication, or help their children with schoolwork.Veteran Candie Kung backs the Tour's decision to make all players proficient in English.The LPGA Tour boasts players from all over the world, and it wants all of them to be able to speak English.For many years, the LPGA tour has impressed upon its membership the significance of communicating efficiently in English.
